SMS Consent & Opt-In
Last updated: August 8, 2026
This page explains, plainly and specifically, how a caller ends up receiving text messages through Pingbak — the opt-in event, and the exact disclosure they see.
The opt-in event: calling the business
Pingbak-enabled businesses do not use a web signup form, QR code, or paper form to collect SMS consent. Instead, the opt-in event is the phone call itself: when someone calls a business that uses Pingbak and the call is not answered, that missed call is what triggers the very first text message — sent as a direct continuation of the contact the caller already initiated, not as new or unsolicited outreach.
The exact disclosure sent
Every first automated text a caller receives includes this consent disclosure, appended after the business's greeting, verbatim and every time:
“By replying, you agree to receive SMS messages from us related to your inquiry. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.”
A full example of what the opening message looks like in practice:
“Hi! This is [Business Name] — sorry we missed your call. What can we help you with today? By replying, you agree to receive SMS messages from us related to your inquiry. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.”
Opting out
Recipients can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message, and can get help by replying HELP. Opt-out is honored immediately and applies to all future messages from that business through Pingbak.
